Challenge Coin Artwork Files: What to Prepare Before Design Review
Published by Torven Custom Gifts
Prepare the clearest original artwork you have, exact written text, separate front and reverse references, and a short specification brief. Editable vector artwork can help with clean logos and lettering, while photographs and sketches can explain an idea. File type alone does not make artwork production-ready; the actual content needs review.
Do You Need A Finished Production File To Start?
You can organize an initial brief without having the final manufacturing artwork. Explain whether you are sharing a concept, an existing logo or a design that must be reproduced closely. Identify the parts that are fixed and the parts open to change. Ask what further files or design work will be needed before the project can move to approval.
What Is The Difference Between Vector And Raster Artwork?
Vector artwork describes shapes and paths that can be scaled without the pixel grid used by a raster image. Raster artwork, including ordinary photographs, has a fixed pixel resolution. Enlarging a small screenshot can reveal blur rather than useful detail. Preserve the original file when possible and send the clearest source rather than repeatedly saving a compressed preview.
Is A Pdf Always A Vector File?
No. A PDF can contain vector artwork, raster images or both. Placing a low-resolution image inside a PDF does not restore missing detail. Similarly, changing a filename does not change the artwork it contains. Ask the designer to inspect the file rather than assuming an extension proves that a logo is editable or ready for production.
How Should You Supply Lettering And Colors?
Provide names, dates, abbreviations, punctuation and inscriptions as written text as well as in the reference image. Identify any lettering style that must be retained and confirm whether the designer needs a font reference or outlined artwork. Supply consistent color references and ask how color approval will be handled. A bright screen preview is not a physical color approval.
How Should You Label Both Sides And Design References?
Label the front, reverse and top orientation clearly. Keep the same revision name across both sides and the specification notes. Mark whether each image shows actual artwork, a style reference, a photograph or a digital rendering. If you want only one feature from a reference, identify it instead of leaving the designer to guess which details to copy.
What Should You Check Before Sending The Files?
Make sure you have permission to use the logos and images. Remove unrelated personal information from screenshots, check that the correct revision is included and keep a copy of the originals. Confirm the proposed file-transfer method and supported formats with the team before sending large or editable source files. The website contact form can start that conversation; it is not a substitute for an agreed file handoff.
What Belongs In The Final Artwork Handoff?
Include the approved front and reverse, overall dimensions, thickness definition, relief notes, color references, finish, edge, quantity and packaging. List any remaining questions rather than treating them as approved. Use Torven Custom Gifts's contact form to describe your project and arrange the artwork exchange. Confirm the final production-oriented proof and written scope before authorizing the order.
